Living in an host family
To feel as if you're at home when you're not - that is the difficult situation we recently found ourselves in, but our Portuguese host families made it possible for us! Living under one roof with strangers who don't even speak the same language as you may sound frightening at first, but we settled in surprisingly quickly. This was partly because the host families treated us like their own children and were kind and considerate to us. That's one reason why we built a good and lasting friendship with the host family. The food was very important to most families. In contrast to Germany there were many varied meals. Often with fish, meat, delicious desserts and Portuguese specialities!
