Mobility 1 in Ayr: Blog

From this Monday 14th until Saturday 20th is running the first Erasmus mobility on the theme of Art Nouveau- Art Renouveau. More than 60 international pupils have gathered on this occasion.

Monday: Visit to Glasgow

On Monday, the Erasmus group went on a visit trip to Glasgow. They enjoyed a variety of activities such as a tour of the Glasgow School of Art and learnt lot about Sir Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We also had a walking tour of the city of Glasgow, looking especially at pieces of architecture in respect to Art Nouveau.

Tuesday: Workshop at Wellington School

Today, the Erasmus group gathered at the host school for a whole day of creative workshops on photography and design. Phil McMenemy gave a talk on "what makes a good photograph". Pupils proceeded to take photographs and created a design based on these.

Wednesday: Visit to Arran

On the third day, we made our way with the ferry to the Isle of Arran. We went for a guided tour of Brodick Castle. We then took a nature walk to discover the wildlife around it. The rest of the day consisted of workshops using stained glass and ceramic painting, which helped them to further explore the designs and shapes of Art Nouveau.

Thursday: Glass painting

With our art expert, Leona Stewart, we have learnt the essential techniques of glass painting. For our final product, we applied these new techniques to transpose Tuesday's studied designs, using tracing paper, on glass.

We had a Ceilidh.

Friday: Workshops and Exhibition

The last day of the mobility took place in Wellington school. We participated in workshops on architecture, printing and weaving.
We then organised an Art Nouveau - Art Renouveau exhibition of all the products created throughout the week.
As grand finale, we had a closing ceremony to review and celebrate the achieviements of a successful week.
